Parent Meet and Greet
Welcome back to the school, we missed you!
This was the catch cry that greeted families on our parent meet and greet evening. It was certainly wonderful to see so many families celebrating their child’s/children’s learning and the students were just as excited and proud to be showcasing.
A lovely evening even the weather couldn’t put a damper on!
Visiting Principal in Stage 2
This week Stage 2 received a visit from principal Mrs Lee Denton, who spent the morning working with the students during their English block. Mrs Denton is the principal of St Joseph’s South Grafton who has a passion for literacy that she happily shares with others. Stage 2 certainly encountered her love of all things literature, as she worked with them on their Learning Intention, developing strong characters who connect with an audience. Thanks Mrs Denton, we thoroughly enjoyed your visit and will certainly share our finished products in the near future.
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
Many of you may notice the new signage around the school that is part our Positive Behaviour Support where the focus is on Respect Self, Respect Others and Respect Environment. Over the coming weeks we will highlight PBS and the vital importance of this within our school. Ask your children what they know and how they display this through action and deeds.
Bullying. No Way!
Today, Friday 19 March, marks a national day of action. A day in which we Respect Self, Respect Others and Respect Environment. This helps us to say, “Bullying. No Way!”
"Mr Huff"
Today, Meerkat Productions entertained, engaged and informed our students with the show "Mr Huff". Based on an award-winning and much-loved book by author and illustrator Anna Walker. "Mr Huff" is a story about the clouds and the sunshine in each of our lives. The puppetry, mime, movement, music and songs added to the spectacle that the children certainly enjoyed.
"Mr Huff", may be talking point around your table in the coming days.

Feast of St Joseph
Today we celebrate the Feast of St Joseph. A travelling shrine to St Joseph visited each of the classrooms during the week, providing an opportunity for the students to spend some time getting to know St Joseph and why he is such an important saint. We can learn much from St Joseph’s example. He listened faithfully to God and trusted the plans made for him. He showed courage and compassion by taking on the responsibility of looking after Mary and her unborn son, Jesus, even though it was outside the customs of the time. And he showed kindness in the way he loved and protected his family, putting their needs always before his own. Pope Francis has named this year as the Year of St Joseph. In his apostolic letter he wrote, ‘In the Gospels, St Joseph appears as a strong and courageous man, a working man, yet in his heart we see great tenderness, strength of spirit and a capacity for concern, for compassion, for genuine openness to others, for love.’
"BE MORE" Fundraiser
Yesterday, Mini Vinnies hosted a mufti day to raise funds for the Lenten Project Compassion Appeal. Students dressed as someone who inspires them to BE MORE - we had doctors, nurses, teachers, artists, sportspeople and astronauts just to name a few. So far this Lent, we have raised $641 as a school community for Project Compassion! What a fantastic effort. Please return to school any Project Compassion boxes containing donations over the next two weeks as the appeal comes to a close at the end of Lent. Thank you so much to all our families for your generous support of this worthy cause.
St Patrick's Day
You may have noticed a touch of green on Wednesday, 17th March as we celebrated St Patrick's day. St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, whose impact is remembered across the world.
