Prayer Focus
From the Principal
Standing in solidarity
As a Catholic school it is our mission to support those who are marginalised in our community and across the globe. On Wednesday, 9 June, we will be hosting a vigil in prayer and song to show our support. ALL ARE WELCOME.
The proposed schedule of events include;
5:45pm Sikh hymn singing
6:00pm Candlelight vigil and prayer
6:15pm Culminating hymn “We are Messengers” (link below) featuring the St Francis Xavier choir and Bobby Kandola
6:30pm Shared meal
I would like to extend a large pre-emptive thank you to our Sikh community who have agreed to spoil us with the ‘shared meal’ and the students who will share their culture by wearing traditional dress. The evening should be a very moving ‘moment in time’ where our two faith communities come together in support of the common good.
Please contact the school office if you have any queries or would like further information, or email me directly at troy.baker@lism.catholic.edu.au

Kindergarten and Year 6 Church Visit
On Wednesday, Kindergarten visited the St Francis Xavier Church with their Year 6 buddies. The children were all very excited to be going on a bus together for the first time! At the Church, Fr Joy gave the children a tour of the Church and discussed all the important places, symbols and gestures. We then celebrated a Liturgy of the Word, led by Year 6 students.

Spotlight on HPL
This week saw Mrs Coster move from working with Mrs Speirs in the Year 6 classroom during English, to working with Stage 2. The students have been exposed to a new structure during reading where there is a focus on building their reading stamina (reading for a prolonged period of time) and being able to summarise the key events and ideas in a chapter or chapters.
On Wednesday afternoon, Stage 3 HPL students were given the opportunity to work with Sarah Atkins, a teacher from ACARA, on digital technologies. The students used the program Scratch to code mathematical problems.
