Welcome Back
Welcome to Term 3. It is wonderful to see how excited the students are to be connecting with their friends and genuinely happy to be at school. We welcome new families to our school and hope that you will feel right at home in a short space of time.
Thank you to all who have made the transition back to school with restrictions back in place, seem effortless. We certainly appreciate everyone's understanding and adherence to the guidelines that are currently in place. It is important that we all work together to keep our community safe.
Holiday Happenings
Lots of our students have had amazing experiences during the holidays. Georgia Winn in Stage 2 has been able to share a little about one of her favourite things to do. Take a look at the latest Coffs Coast Focus Magazine.
Faith & Mission
Pyjama Day - Tuesday, July 20
As part of our support of the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal, the Mini Vinnies are hosting a Pyjama Day on Tuesday, July 20. Students are invited bring in a gold coin donation and wear their PJs (closed in shoes and hats are still required, no singlet tops please). Many thanks to those who donated to our Jumper Drive at the end of last Term. Your contribution and support makes a big difference to those in our community who need our help.
Nude Food Thursdays
As part of ‘Plastic Free July’, we are encouraging all families to consider reducing their environmental footprint by reducing the use of single-use plastics. Every Thursday, the Environment Team is asking students to participate in Nude Food Day and pack lunches that do not contain single-use plastics. The Environment Team is working on some exciting ‘green’ projects this term to support this initiative so watch this space!
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
Social Emotional Skills
PBS in Semester 2 will highlight social emotional skills outlined in our Personal Development & Health programs (PDH). Students will learn the vital skills needed to meet behaviour expectations through our PDH programs.
These are the skills we will explicitly teach across the school in Term 3:
Having discussions about these skills at home can help support students to achieve wellbeing. We look forward to sharing our learning with you!
High Potential Learning (HPL)
In the second half of last Term, Mrs Coster joined Stage 2 during the reading component of the literacy block. She worked alongside the Stage 2 teachers, Mrs Jensen, Ms Stuart and Ms Henry in a co-teaching role. The students were challenged to increase their stamina during Reading Groups and to have in-depth discussions about their nominated novel with their peers. There was a clear focus on being able to synthesise information and to present a clear summary of the main events and characters in a novel. Mrs Coster will continue in this role for the first two weeks of Term 2 and then she will move to Year 5 to assist with reading and comprehension.
Sporting Roundup
Netball NSW Clinics
I am excited to announce that our school has received funding to hold some Netball NSW clinics this Term. I am in the process of organising the times and dates for this with the local Netball Development Officers.
Zone Athletics Carnival
More information about the postponed Zone Athletics Carnival will be communicated to families when it is received.
High Jump and Discus
These events will not be held at the Zone Athletics Carnival but if your child is interested in competing in these events at the Diocesan Athletics Carnival, please email Miss Wishart on tiffany.wishart@lism.catholic.edu.au. Student jump measurements and throwing results are required to be signed-off by their Athletics Coach and will need to be compared to nominations from the other schools in the Zone for qualification to compete at Diocesan level.
Rebel Sport
Thank you to families for your continued support by nominating our school when you buy sports equipment at Rebel Sport. This enables us to buy new equipment regularly for playground use.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data

Reminders for Families
The carpark outside the office area is a Staff and Disability carpark ONLY. Unfortunately there was a 'near miss' in this carpark during the week. Parent parking is in Queen Street.
Please label all items that come to school with your child, particularly jackets, jumpers, hats, lunch boxes and drinkbottles. If an item has a name on it, it can be returned to your child as soon as possible. No name, no return.
Please ensure changes of travel plans are phoned through to school prior to 2.45pm. We cannot guarantee messages will be passed on to children after this time.
