2021 Term 4 Week 1 Newsletter
Prayer Focus
From the Principal
I would like to commend all our families, staff and students for this week’s amazingly smooth transition back to face-to-face learning and teaching. Clearly, based on the high levels of excitement both in the classrooms and on the playground the majority of our students have missed school and are very happy to be back. Likewise, we were extremely pleased to see the students back at school. Over the next couple of weeks staff and students will focus on re-establishing routines and learning activities to ensure all our students are experiencing the “fullness of life” here at St Francis Xavier.
However, I would encourage families to regularly check in with their children to make sure they are okay during this transitional period. If you are needing any support please do not hesitate in contacting the school.
Our school is continually looking for ways to better serve our students and their families. At the close of last term I asked families to complete a Blended Learning Feedback Google Form so that as a school we can move from “good” to “great”! Unfortunately, only a limited number of families provided feedback. It would be much appreciated if more families could take the time to provide the school with feedback in relation to the rollout of Blended Learning last term. ALL feedback is greatly valued.
Yours in Faith,
Warren Niethe
Principal

Welcome Back!
We are very excited to be back on site and ready to start Term 4. Term 4 is such an exciting Term that has a significant number of learning experiences crammed into 11 weeks. Although some of these experiences may look a little different due to Covid restrictions, the incredible staff at St Francis Xavier will continue to ensure quality opportunities for our students. Please continue to check the school calendar for upcoming events.
PDHPE
We have been advertising a number of upcoming webinars that supported our Physical Development Health and Physical Education units. The first of these webinars aired last night and by all reports was very informative. There is no cost to these webinars as our Parent Assembly completely funds these opportunities to listen to experts. There are further opportunities to participate in these webinars so don’t miss out on some wonderful parent support.
Year 6 Faith in the Future Art Submission
Earlier in the year we featured in our newsletter the amazing artwork by Year 6 and Mr David Ogg and we are excited to share that this artwork has been included in the ‘Faith in the Future’ Creative Arts Virtual Tour of the Lismore Diocese. This initiative features artwork from high schools and primary schools across the Diocese marking the celebration of 200 years of Catholic Education in Australia.
Kind regards,

Faith & Mission
The month of October each year is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary. This is primarily due to the fact that the liturgical feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated annually on October 7. During October, classes will be exploring different ways of engaging in prayer using the Rosary. Yesterday, students decorated our Mary statue in honour of her feast day.
Next week, the whole school will participate in an outdoor ‘walking rosary’ on Wednesday. Check out Facebook and next week’s newsletter for photos!
Kind regards,
Katrina Ryan

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
St Francis Xavier Primary School’s overarching rules are, Respect Self, Respect Others and Respect the Environment.
This week’s token focus was, "Respect Self: I stay in the right area" and our skills focus was, "I can follow instructions".
Congratulations to our many token earners, a great way to start Term 4!
Kind regards,
Laura Cooke
Leader of Positive Behaviour Support
