2022 Term 4 Week 5 Newsletter
Prayer Focus
From the Acting Principal
Week 5 is the halfway mark of the term and we are 5 weeks away from the end of another school year. It’s all happening!
If there are any families who will not be returning to St Francis Xavier Primary School in 2023 please advise the school office on 66541981 as soon as possible.
Tonight we get to enjoy a long awaited bush dance. Our wonderful Parent Forum has been hard at work and we hope that this event will be well supported. All indications to date, are leaning that way.
Our Stage 3 students have also had a big week with Year 6 students enjoying camp at Runaway Bay and Year 5 focusing on leadership throughout the week
This week also saw an information evening held for our 2023 Kindergarten parents and the final orientation day for students. We look forward to welcoming many new families to our beautiful school community in 2023.
So while it is all happening at present, and as the weeks start to fly by, I encourage you to take time to pause, reflect, and offer up a prayer of gratitude for all that we have. St Francis Xavier School, a great place to be, Serving Every Learner.

Upcoming St John Paul College Transition Day
What a busy time it is for our Year 6 students!
On Tuesday 15th November our students heading to St John Paul College in 2023 will participate in a Transition Day. The bus will leave from St Francis Xavier and students will need to be at school by 8:15am for departure. On returning to school students will be able to access usual travel arrangements for that afternoon. An event has been emailed to families today requiring consent for students to attend.

Exuro Retreat
This week while Year 6 were at camp, students in Year 5 have been enjoying the opportunity to connect more closely as a group. They have begun preparations for their Year 6 Leadership Speeches which will take place in Week 8. As part of their leadership development this week they participated in the Exuro Retreat, exploring key themes of discipleship including what is means to be a disciple and how we can be God’s hands, feet and eyes in the world as ‘Christ has no body on earth but yours’ -St Teresa of Avila. Thank you to Mrs Ballatine who came along as a guest facilitator on the day.
Rememberance Day
Today we recognised Remembrance Day with class activities and prayer. At 10.30am the flags were lowered to half mast and at 11.00am the whole school listened to the Last Post, recited The Ode and observed a minute of silence in remembrance of all members of the Australian Defence Forces who have lost their lives in conflict and peacekeeping missions. Lest we forget.

Communicating Diversity
All around our school you will see wonderful things being done to celebrate our cultural diversity. In Stage 2, students learn one Punjabi and Gumbaynggirr word each week. Students are excited to share their language with peers.
“It makes me feel like I”m coming back into my culture. I’m learning new ways to speak.” Dash, Year 4
“I really love it because I love teaching my language. I find it really peaceful.” Willow, Year 3
“I think it’s fantastic because others can learn it and teach others.” Aaliyah, Year 4

2022 Tuition Fee Payment Reminder
Thank you to all our parents for keeping your 2022 tuition fees up to date following the transition to Compass.
If you have yet to set up or re-commence your recurring Bpay payments, please refer to your School Fee Statement, dated 31st October, for the Bpay reference details. This Statement was emailed on 1st November. If you have not received your Statement or would like to speak to someone regarding your school tuition fees or payments, please contact the School Office on 66541981.
2023 Tuition Fee Assistance
Supporting your children to obtain a Catholic education can present financial challenges for families. The Catholic Schools Office (CSO) recognises these challenges and aims to support this important education choice by families.
It is expected that families, having chosen a Catholic education, have considered the payment of fees and payments are prioritised accordingly. However, when unexpected changes occur, short or long-term assistance may be required with the payment of tuition fees (non-compulsory fees are not covered under this scheme). The nature of support provided is determined following an assessment of the financial circumstances of parents/guardians. Whilst aiming to support as many families as possible, it is important to recognise that not all will qualify.
If you wish to apply for assistance in 2023, please download the application on the school’s website, or click on the link below or you can collect a paper copy from the school office. All information is treated in the strictest confidence. As income and circumstances change from year to year, it is necessary to reapply annually if ongoing assistance is required.
2023 Applications (and supporting documents) must be returned to the email noted on the application form no later than 30th November, 2022. (If you have children at both St John Paul College and a feeder primary school, please complete and lodge the application with St John Paul College only).
Any questions, please contact the Catholic Schools Office on 6653 1655.
