2023 Term 4 Week 1 Newsletter
School Fete
The St Francis Xavier School Fete is only one week away!
This week’s Fete Exclusive Newsletter contains all ‘need-to-know’ information. The purpose of the Fete, in addition to providing a fun, family-friendly, community building event, is to raise much needed funds to update our school playground. All proceeds from this year’s Fete, including the major raffle, will go towards this. Please spread the word and invite your family and friends to help make our Fete a huge success.
Volunteers
The Fete relies entirely on volunteers so your generosity in sharing some time to help on Fete day is greatly appreciated. Many hands make light work! We need:
- general volunteers to serve customers in stalls
- experienced baristas for the canteen coffee machine
- volunteers to shop for the sausage sizzle the day before the Fete
Please click on the link below to access the online sign up information. Please note, this information has been edited and is different to the information previously sent out. Alternatively, contact the school office.
MC
If you would be interested in being an MC for some of the Fete, please contact the office. The MC would be responsible for introducing performances, advertising stalls and sharing general information.
Donations
Donations for stalls will be accepted up until Friday, October 20.
Are you a whizz in the kitchen or a green thumb in the veggie patch? We will be accepting donations for the cake stall and produce stall the day before and the day of the Fete. Please do not send these items in before then.
These items can be sent in from now until Friday, October 20:
- Tombola Jars - clear jars filled with fun!
- Craft supplies for the free craft zone
- Soft drink cans
- Lollies and chocolates for the Lob-a-choc stall
- Coloured hairspray, face paint and tattoos
- Saleable goods for the White Elephant Stall
These items can be sent in either on Friday, October 20 or brought in on Fete Day.
- Baked goods for the Cake Stall - preferably labelled, portioned and/or packaged for sale
- Fruit, veggies, flowers (homegrown is fine) for the Fresh Produce Stall
Unlimited Ride Wristbands
These can be pre-purchased up until Wednesday, October 18 via Flexischools for $25. Wristbands will be distributed to students at school on Friday. Wristbands will also be on sale from the office sales window on Fete Day.
Student Performances on Fete Day
We have some fantastic performances planned to keep you entertained all day! The School Choir will be performing as part of the official Fete opening. Choir students are asked to be in attendance by 12.45pm, ready for the official opening at 1pm.
All students have been rehearsing weekly in preparation for dance performances on Fete Day. Dance performances will take place between 2 and 3pm on the basketball court. Students are encouraged to wear their dance costumes TO the Fete as there will not be enough room for costume changes in the toilets.
There will be a full dress rehearsal on Wednesday, Oct 18. All students are required to have their costume for this day. Please refer to the information below (sent out last term) if you have yet to organise this. If your child/ren will not be attending the Fete and therefore unable to perform with their class, please advise your class teacher ASAP so that we can make final adjustments to choreography ahead of the performances.
The dance performances will also be reprised for the Grandparents Day celebration on Friday, October 27. Students are asked to keep one item from their costume that can be used as an accessory for this additional performance.
There will also be performances on Fete Day by St Francis Xavier piano students, the very talented (past St Francis Xavier student) Bella Nalder and Mighty Ocean on the day.
Program of Events
The Fete will be primarily a CASH EVENT
While there will be limited EFTPOS facilities available at the office sales window, we encourage all families to bring cash. $1 tokens will be available for purchase via EFTPOS, which can be exchanged at any stall, however cash is a more convenient option.

General Information

- Supervision of all children, including St Francis Xavier students is the responsibility of parents at the Fete. School staff will be in attendance but their role will be supporting students during performances and to assist with managing stalls. Under no circumstances are students to be dropped off and left unsupervised at the Fete.
- Toilets near Room 4 and Room 7 will be open for students and school age children to use. Adults and younger children (accompanied by an adult) should use the toilets outside the Hall.
