Kindergarten 2025 Orientation Sessions
We were thrilled to welcome both new and current families at the Parent Information Evening this week and the Kindergarten 2025 students during our Orientation sessions this week and next week. It is exciting as these young learners embark on their educational journeys! We wish every student success as they start this new chapter and look forward to supporting our families every step of the way. Welcome to the community!
School Camps
Our Year 6 students have had an incredible experience at Lake Ainsworth. I had the pleasure of visiting them on Monday. School camp provides many benefits, from fostering teamwork and resilience to encouraging independence away from home. It also creates lasting memories that students will cherish for years to come.
We are equally excited for our Year 5 students as they prepare for their adventure at Bonville next week. There, they too will have the opportunity to grow, learn, and connect with one another in a fun and supportive environment. We can’t wait to see the wonderful experiences they will create together!
We are currently in the process of booking camps for 2026 and 2027. Having a Year 6 camp at the beginning of the year is beneficial, as it helps students bond as a team in their final year of school. Additionally, having a Year 5 camp in Term 4 prepares students for leadership roles in Year 6.
Last year, we sent out a survey to parents, many of whom expressed interest in sending students to Moreton Island for a week. A survey link will be sent to current Year 3 and Year 4 parents next week. We request that parents complete the survey so we can make informed decisions about our camps for 2026 and 2027. Thank you for your support!
Jack Frith
Jack Frith, one of our Stage 2 students, is currently undergoing treatment and, unfortunately, will be unable to return to school this year. Let us take a moment to keep the Frith family in our thoughts and prayers.

Attendance Matters
Be open and honest if your child is reluctant to attend school. Contact the school if your child is regularly seeking to stay home. Working together is the best way to resolve school avoidance.
It is essential to address the issue promptly to understand the underlying reasons and provide necessary support.
Start by having an open and non-judgmental conversation with your child. Ask them about their feelings, concerns, or any challenges they may be facing related to school. Ask open-ended questions in a space where they feel comfortable.
Examples of conversation openers include:
- Tell me about how you’ve been feeling lately.
- What are some things you don’t like about being at school?
- You’ve said you feel _______. Can you tell me what that feels like?
- Tell me when you feel happy at school? What do you like to do?
- If you could change two things about school what would they be?
Actively listen to your child's concerns and feelings. It's important to understand their perspective and validate their emotions. Avoid being dismissive or judgmental, and let them know you are there to support them. Move to more specific questions like
- Is there a specific incident that has made you feel this way with someone at school?
- Is school-work upsetting you?
Make a plan with your child to talk to the school. You can seek advice free from NSW ParentLine 1300 1300 52

Tea Towel & Tote Bag Fundraiser
As part of celebrating our 30 year anniversary, the Parent Forum and school staff have been working together on a project to create something for families to remember such a special year.
In Term 2, each child had the opportunity to draw and sign a self portrait which has been turned into a design to print onto tea towels and tote bags. These items are now available to purchase via Flexischools until Sunday 3 November. Items will be available for collection on Monday 9th December and are an excellent idea for Christmas gifts for your child, family members and friends. Your child/ren will not only be able to see their own artwork in print, but also their friends, siblings and teachers! A wonderful, useful keepsake for years to come.
The company we have chosen to work with is Australian owned and eco-friendly, using high quality, long lasting GOTS certified organic cotton as well as 100% enviro certified printing inks.
With Christmas fast approaching this fundraiser not only helps to support your volunteer Parent Forum raise much needed funds for school and student-led projects, but also provides an opportunity to get some gift ideas ticked off your shopping list.
Once again we thank you for your ongoing support to help make our childrens' school so wonderful.
